Experimental Vapor–Liquid Equilibria Data of Methyl Acetate or Ethyl Acetate with 2-Butanol at 0.3 MPa and 0.6 MPa. Quality Assessment and Predictions

Abstract: Isobaric vapor−liquid equilibria for the binary system methyl acetate + 2-butanol at 0.3 MPa and 0.6 MPa and ethyl acetate + 2-butanol at 0.3 MPa and 0.6 MPa have been determined. Thermodynamic consistency was checked. The Redlich−Kister and Herington area tests were employed. The Point test, Area test and Infinite dilution test (PAI) of Kojima et al. and the point-to-point test of Van Ness et al. were also applied. The different criteria for validation were considered, and all systems showed an acceptable qua… Show more

“…In this work all the systems satisfy the global criterion because MAD( y 1 ) was 0.009 and 0.008 in the systems MA2B and EA2B, respectively. The bibliographic properties and the Antoine equation constants of this work and previous papers , were taken for the point-to-point test and for activity coefficient calculations. In addition, data were verified with the direct area test of Van Ness by considering the excess Gibbs free energy ( G E / RT ) residuals using the root mean squares (RMS) parameter: The results obtained for RMS were 0.135 for MA2B and 0.060 for EA2P.…”
