Experimental Study On Thermal Wave Type Adsorption Refrigeration System Working On A Pair Of Activated Carbon And Methanol

Abstract: The aim of the study was to examine the efficiency of the thermal wave type adsorption refrigerating equipment working on a pair of activated carbon and methanol. Adsorption units can work in trigeneration systems and in applications driven by waste heat. They can be built also as a part of hybrid sorption-compressor systems, and they are very popular in solar refrigeration systems and energy storage units. The device examined in this study operates in a special mode called thermal wave. This mode allows to ac… Show more

“…EER coefficient was determined as the ratio of the amount of heat flux in the refrigerant circuit to the heat flux in the heat source during the one hour (Eq. (1)) (Grzebielec et al 2015a;Xu 2011;Cacciola, Restuccia 1995).…”

“…In the industrial refrigeration systems are widely connected with waste heat (Grzebielec et al 2015a(Grzebielec et al , 2015b. In the case of commercial refrigeration are mostly used as installations of solar refrigeration and heat recovery in other commercial installations (Fernández et al 2015;Hadij Ammar et al 2017;Jaworski et al 2016).…”

“…On the end of process there is a difference of bed temperature at level of 10 to 30 K. This is a result that beds are porous materials and are characterized by small heat conductivity factor. Besides, heat recovery is usually implemented by secondary fluid as the thermal wave type (Grzebielec et al 2015a). Mass recovery does not cause as many problems as to its use there is enough pipe connecting the two adsorbers with shutoff valves.…”

“…Calculation was made for thermal wave type adsorption unit using finite difference method. The unit was detailed described in Grzebielec et al work (Grzebielec et al 2015a). In both cases, there was not included the energy required for transport heat from one bed to another.…”

“…This technique allows to achieve the required thermal comfort conditions in the rooms through the use of cold air from the environment (during the night) as a source of cold (Grzebielec et al , 2015Rusowicz et al 2014;Waqas, Din Zia 2013). For example, an office building heats up during the day as a result of external influences (high temperature, sunshine), but mainly because of the large internal heat gains, such as electrical equipment, employees, etc.…”
