Experimental study on the cytocompatibility of milling surface of Poly-ether-ether-ketone (PEEK)

Abstract: Cytocompatibility of implant material is dependent on the processed surface topography. This study aimed to characterize the milling surface topography features and to assess the cytotoxicity of PEEK processed using end milling technology. Based on the Taguchi method, end milling experiments have been conducted on PEEK to characterize surface topographies induced by various milling conditions. Machined surface defects and 3-Dimensional surface topography parameters such as surface average height Sa, the ten-po… Show more

“…Before and after the experiment, the weight of Ti-6Al-4V titanium alloy was measured by the electronic balance (Shanghai Huachao Electric Appliance Company Limited). The mass loss converted into a wear factor was used to clearly reveal the wear resistance of Ti-6Al-4V titanium alloy in different experimental conditions [18]. As shown in Eqs (2) and (3):…”
