Experimental Study on Mechanical Properties of Continuous Welding Stainless Steel Roof System under Temperature Effect

Abstract: Stainless steel is used as a new generation of long-span metal roof systems with continuous welding technology, which exhibits many unknown behaviors during temperature action. This study focuses on the temperature effect of a continuous welded stainless steel roof (CWSSR) system and analyzes the stress distribution of plate rib (PR), plate surface (PS), and support (SU), and the horizontal and vertical displacement. Furthermore, the thermal action of the CWSSR system is comprehensively analyzed considering di… Show more

“…The test specimens of this paper are the typical SSR system (Specimen A) 23,24 and the CWR system (Specimen B). 25,26 The structure diagrams of the specimens are shown in Figure 1. The roof slabs of the two specimens are 445J2 stainless steel materials, and the SPs are SUS304 stainless steel materials.…”

“…The continuous improvement of the national economic level, the establishment of large‐scale construction venues, and the implementation and release of relevant policy standards have brought unprecedented opportunities for the technical improvement of large‐span metal roof systems and the development of applied technologies 1 . As a typical form of large‐span structure, the temperature field distribution and temperature effect of metal roof slab and key connection nodes are significant under temperature 2,3 . At present, the materials of metal roof systems in engineering mainly include aluminum alloy and stainless steel.…”

“…The test device consisted of a bottom mounting frame, an upper-pressure direction, and a wind-pressure-providing device, and its performance met the requirements of the test results [24]. Notably, the upper-pressure box of the test device was in a closed state, featuring an independent pressure application device functioning as a negative pressure chamber.…”

“…Consequently, there could be some errors between the data collected in the test and the finite element simulation results. To quantify the error between the test and simulation results, the concept of the linear correlation coefficient in statistics is introduced [24]. The linear correlation determination coefficient R 2 can reflect the degree of agreement between the test and simulation to a certain extent.…”
