Abstract:In this article we present the results of an experimental study of a periodically poled lithium niobite (PPLN) crystal designed to generate sub-terahertz radiation based on the process of difference frequency generation using two optical carriers of close frequencies. This crystal was specially designed for this frequency range. The resulting generation efficiency turned out to be relatively low, however, here we present the proof of concept.
