Experimental studies on active vibration control of smart plate using a modified PID controller with optimal orientation of piezoelectric actuator

Abstract: This paper presents a design, development and experimental verification of an active vibration control system of aluminum plate. The active structure consists of an aluminum rectangular plate as the host structure, strain gages as the sensor element and a piezoceramic patch as the actuation element. Based on characteristics of the integrated elements with use of the fuzzy optimization strategy based on the pseudogoal function the optimal orientation of piezoelectric actuator is found, and the whole active vibr… Show more

“…The research of instability of the active vibration control was performed on composite beam using full bridge strain gages for sensor platform and bonding piezoelectric patches for actuator platform. The PID control algorithm is implemented on a 'PIC32-PINGUINO-OTG' board [6,11], with an integrated PIC32MX440F256H microcontroller. The experiment considers vibration control under periodic excitation at the eccentricity pulley.…”

“…More than this, the meshing vibration will also arouse the transmission shafts generating translational and bending deformations. As shown in Figure 2(b), the blue line 1 1 2 is the original position of the driving transmission shaft in the steady state condition, and the red dashed line 1 1 2 is the position after deformation owing to the vibrations propagation, projecting 1 -axis directions, and 1 , 1 is projective coordinate of point 1 . The distances between the projective points and the coordinate origin can be expressed as follows:…”

“…The vibrations of multistage gear transmission system (MGTS) are closely related to the time-varying meshing stiffness, transmission errors, and meshing impacts [1,2]. The gear meshing vibrations will be transmitted to the whole housing structure via the transmission shafts and supporting parts, which will damage the properties of the entire transmission system seriously.…”
