Abstract:An experimental apparatus was built and tested for the investigation of prompt gamma ray spectra produced by 14.5 MeV neutrons. To reduce the background the associated particle method was used. The time resolution of the 27 cm 3 trapezoidal coaxial Ge(Li) detector was 45 nsec, using an avalanche transistor as leading-edge-type time pick-off. The prompt gamma spectra of Fe and U were investigated in the 0,675--2.445 MeV range.

scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
