Abstract:The immediate and chronic effects of an intraocular carbon dioxide CO2 laser probe used for tissue vaporization were studied in cynomolgus monkeys' eyes. Acute lesions produced necrosis (from superficial to deep) of the retina and choroid, depending on the amount of energy used.
