Global warming is adversely affecting the earth's climate system due to rapid emissions of greenhouse gases (GHGs). Consequently, the world's coastal ecosystems are rapidly approaching a dangerous situation. In this study, we formulate a mathematical model to assess the impact of rapid emissions of GHGs on climate change and coastal ecosystems. Furthermore, we develop a mitigation method involving two control strategies: coastal greenbelt and desulfurization. Here, greenbelt is considered in coastal areas to reduce the concentrations of GHGs by absorbing the environmental carbon dioxide (CO 2 ), whereas desulfurization is considered in factories and industries to reduce GHG emissions by controlling the release of harmful sulfur compounds. The model and how it can control the situation are analytically verified. Numerical results of this study are confirmed by comparison with other studies that examine different scenarios. Results show that both control strategies can mitigate GHG concentrations, curtail global warming and to some extent manage climate change. The results further reveal that both control strategies are more effective than one control method. Overall, the results suggest that the concentrations of GHGs and the effects of climate change can be controlled by adopting sufficient coastal greenbelt and desulfurization techniques in various industries.

The enormous emission of carbon dioxide (CO 2 ) from industries has triggered a series of environmental issues. In recent years, ionic liquids (ILs) as novel absorbents are widely used for CO 2 capture owing to their low vapor pressure and tunable structures. IL-modified adsorbents have the advantages of both ILs and porous supports, such as high CO 2 selectivity and high specific surface area, which are novel agents to capture CO 2 with broad application prospects. In this review, more than 140 IL-modified adsorbents for CO 2 capture in recent years were systematically summarized. The types of ILs including conventional ILs and functionalized ILs on CO 2 separation performance of different IL hybrid adsorbents, and their adsorption mechanisms were also discussed. Finally, future perspectives on IL-modified adsorbents for CO 2 separation were further posed.

Composite polymer membranes were prepared using carbonate, polyvinyl alcohol, an acrylic acid polymer partial sodium salt cross-linked product, and sodium polyacrylate.In this study, the factors for further improving the separation performance of these membranes for the CO 2 /He mixed gas were investigated. It was confirmed that the prepared membranes did not provide stable separation under pressure unless they had a thickness of 2.0 μm. Moreover, they could not function as high-performance separation membranes without a carbonate additive; the optimal carbonate concentration range was determined by considering the effect of the total pressure. As a result, this work produced a high-performance, CO 2 selective permeable membrane with selectivities of more than 500 and 150 at 0.1 and 0.7 MPa, respectively, for the separation of a CO 2 /He (80/20) gas mixture at 85 C.
