Experimental Research on the Properties and Formulation of Fly Ash Based Geopolymer Grouting Material

Abstract: This paper experimentally investigated the effects of varying contents of Na2O in a modified sodium silicate, sodium silicate moduli (Ms), and contents of granulated blast furnace slag (GBFS) on the compressive strength and drying shrinkage of fly ash (FA)-based geopolymer grouting materials at different ages. X-ray diffraction (XRD), mercury intrusion porosimetry (MIP), and scanning electron microscopy–energy dispersive X-ray spectroscopy (SEM–EDS) were used to study the influences of different amounts of GBF… Show more

“…Bouchelaghem et al [13], meanwhile, employed the method of periodic structure homogenization (HPS) to establish the changes in effective permeability energy in the presence of cement-grout percolation. Zeng et al [14] investigated the impact of all components of geopolymer grouting material on material properties, leading to significant improvements in the material properties achieved. Gullu et al [15] employed nano silicon to modify Poland cement grout, successfully enhancing its rheology and the strength of the consolidated body.…”

“…Some scholars have summarized the composition of geopolymer grouting materials and the way of enhancing the mechanical properties, which are in terms of raw materials, matching ratios and admixtures [ 21 ]. In order to further study the mechanism of influence of mechanical properties, many scholars have analyzed the microstructure of fly ash geopolymer grouting materials by means of XRD and SEM, showing that the incorporation of slag could improve the pore size distribution and generate a large number of sodium silica-aluminate and calcium silicate gels, which are conducive to the development of strength [ 22 ]. The appropriate amount of fly ash content is also beneficial to reduce the cracks generated by geopolymer hardening, making the structure more uniform, and improving the compressive strength of the geopolymer [ 23 ].…”
