Experimental Research on Mechanical Properties of Basalt Fiber Reinforced Reactive Powder Concrete

Abstract: This paper investigates the static mechanical properties and flexural impact properties of reactive powder concrete (RPC) reinforced by the basalt fiber through various experimental works. The results indicate that the highest flexural and compressive strength can be obtained when the fiber content is 3kg/m3. Length and diameter of basalt fiber both influence the mechanical properties. The basalt fiber of 25mm long and 18μ in diameter can have an ideal strengthening effect. The static mechanical properties and… Show more

“…All types of fiber impregnation caused an increase in water demand to achieve the required workability and a small reduction (10 to 15%) in compressive strength. When the concrete contains basalt fiber, the compression strength of it is unstable, the tensile strength increases with fiber content, and durability and impact resistance increase considerably [16]. Also basalt fiber has little effect on compressive strength of the fiber reinforced concrete but significantly increases its toughness [17].…”

“…In addition, many studies [ 42 , 43 , 44 , 45 , 46 ] have investigated the effects of basalt fiber reinforcement on the mechanical properties of BFRPC from various aspects, such as fiber content and length. Figure 6 shows the study results of the effect of basalt fiber content on the mechanical properties of BFRPC.…”

“…erefore, manufactured sand RPC has important research value. In order to improve the mechanical properties of RPC and reduce the brittleness caused by its high strength, various fibers are usually added to RPC [4][5][6][7]. However, there are few reports on the blending of fibers in manufactured sand RPC, and how to blend fibers in manufactured sand RPC and the ratio of fibers are the technical key to the application of manufactured sand in RPC.…”
