“…According to their cytopathogenicity in cultured cells, BVDV strains fall into two biotypes: non-cytopathic (NCP) strains, which cause no cytopathic effect, and cytopathic (CP) strains, which induce apoptotic cell death (Zhang et al, 1996;Grummer et al, 1998;Brock, 2003).
