Experimental measurements and numerical computation of nanofluid and microencapsulated phase change material in porous material

Abstract: Summary The electronic industry is increasingly investigating different approaches for the cooling of electronic equipment. The use of bulk phase change materials is also a promising approach for energy storage. The introduction of microencapsulated phase change materials combined with nanofluids can be beneficial. The combined use of a nanofluid and a metallic porous material can be used to mitigate problems resulting from small thermal conductivity. This study investigated a ternary mixture of water with a n… Show more

“…A new type of nano‐structured calcium silicate (NCS) has also been developed as a framework material to obtain NCS‐based phase change composites to provide effective heat storage and release . Metal foams, graphene aerogels, porous minerals, expanded graphite, diatomite, metallic porous material and mesoporous silica have also been developed as framework materials for assembling composite phase change materials . Through the analysis of published literatures, synthetic polymers and porous materials with different structures have been used as framework materials to obtain shape‐stable PCMs, while few studies have used natural biomass materials as framework materials.…”

[15][16][17] Saghir and Bayomy 18 investigated a ternary mixture of water with a nanofluid and a microencapsulated PCM in a porous medium. Their results indicated a limited improvement of the thermal performance.…”
