Experimental Investigation on the Kinetics of NO Complex Absorption through FeIIEDTA Solvent in a Double-Stirred Reactor

Abstract: NO emission is a significant source of pollutant from coal combustion. With the establishment of industry flue gas emission standards, removal of NO has been attracting attention and research globally. In this paper, the denitration process through the use of a FeII complex solvent has been studied based on the approach of the wet desulfurization method. The kinetic parameters of the chemical reaction for NO absorption by FeII complex have also been deduced to provide theoretical consideration for the feasibil… Show more

“…For ferrous chelating solutions, such as Fe II -EDTA and Fe II -NTA, their denitration efficiencies decrease in the presence of O 2 . However, some experiments have shown that although there are competitive coordination reactions between NO and O 2 , an appropriate increase in O 2 content contributes to the uptake of NO by cobalt–amine. The mechanism is that cobalt–amine activates O 2 to produce active oxygen intermediates, which rapidly oxidize the absorbed NO to nitrites and nitrates (reactions and ) .…”

The direct oxidation of ammoniacal Co(II) complexes to ammoniacal Co(III) was also challenging in the absence of a catalyst.…”
