“…One result of these experiments was that the organotropism of the carcinogenic trans placental effect not only depends on the animal species, but also on different strains within the same species. If, for instance, nitrosoethylurea is applied transplacentally to BD II rats, the offspring almost exclusively develop malignomas of the central or peripheral ner vous system whereas after the same way of application Sprague-Dawley rats develop a relatively high per centage of Wilms tumors and breast cancer besides tumors of the nervous system and brain tumors [8]. This indicates that considerable differences exist among the different strains within one species regarding the organotropism of the carcinogenic effect of N-nitroso compounds.…”
