Experimental Investigation on Pool Boiling Heat Transfer to Formic Acid, Propanol and 2-Butanol Pure Liquids under the Atmospheric Pressure

Abstract: In this research, pool boiling heat transfer coefficient values were experimentally measured up to heat flux 115kW.m -2 . Experiments were carried out for pool boiling of pure liquids, including of Formic acid, Propanol, 2-butanol on a horizontal smoothed cylinder, at atmospheric pressure. Applicability of the existing well-known and most common used correlations is comparatively discussed, with the present experimental data. The major predictions (over and/or under) were observed in some parameter range by th… Show more

“…Due to the low thickness of the disk, internal heat generation was modeled with the constant boundary condition of the heat flux from the disk bottom. The proportion of channel volume to disk volume without channel is assumed to be 5 per cent constantly in all geometries (Sarafraz, 2013; Sarafraz and Arjomandi, 2018). To model the frame of the electronic component holder the outer surface of the disk has been fixed to avoid moving in three directions and the upper and lower surfaces can move freely.…”

“…In this regard, Bejan (2000) and Bejan and Lorente (2008), based on nature inspiration introduced a new view to design called constructal theory. Most of the investigation in this area is focused on optimizing a peak temperature with respect to geometry by conduction (Cho et al , 2016; Hajmohammadi et al , 2019; Goodarzi et al , 2019b, 2019a; Mozaffari et al , 2019; Tian et al , 2019; Goshayeshi and Safaei, 2019; Gholamalizadeh et al , 2019) and convection (Dadsetani et al , 2019a, 2019b; Arya et al , 2018; Sarafraz, 2013; Sarafraz et al , 2019b, 2019a; Salari et al , 2016; Sarafraz and Arjomandi, 2018; Shenoy et al , 2019; Safaei et al , 2016; Safdari Shadloo, 2019; Shadloo et al , 2019a; Sadeghi et al , 2018; Hopp-Hirschler et al , 2018; Nasiri et al , 2019; Toghyani et al , 2019; Shadloo et al , 2019b; Piquet et al , 2019; Nguyen et al , 2019; Sharma et al , 2019; Méndez et al , 2018; Shadloo and Hadjadj, 2017).…”

“…The boiling mechanism is associated with the generation and movement of small bubbles which intensify the heat transfer between the liquid and vapour phases [7,8]. Hence, boiling heat transfer is a useful mechanism for cooling systems at high temperatures with large heat flux (HF) on the surface [2,[9][10][11][12]. Despite its promising thermal performance, some issues need to be addressed such as 1) The thermo-physical properties of the coolants such as heat capacity and thermal conductivity are normally low, which result in a reduction in the system performance.…”

“…In contrast to the above studies, for the systems working in the two-phase flow, the presence of the nanoparticles can apply a thermal resistance which suppresses the heat transfer mechanisms on the surface. Apart from this issue, there are extensive studies in which it has been shown that HTC can be augmented due to the NPs [7,9,[33][34][35][36][37][38][39]. Hence, more investigations are still required to understand the mechanism of boiling in two-phase systems.…”
