Experimental Investigation of Process Specific Material Behavior of Thermoplastic Hybrid Yarn Textiles

Abstract: For the manufacturing of complex function integrative lightweight components, the pressing process specific material behavior of thermoplastic hybrid yarn textiles plays a significant role. A fundamental knowledge of the compression and heating behavior of the textile preforms is required for an efficient development of adapted tool systems. This paper focuses on the dependency of compression behavior and thermal conductivity of the glass/ polypropylene textile on varied pressure and temperature values. To ana… Show more

“…The lightweight structures integrated into the generic FiF demonstrator vehicle were successfully used to demonstrate the manufacturing and processing of textile‐reinforced thermoplastics using those technologies. To give an example, automated manufacturing technologies with modular mold systems for spacer sandwich structures and remote‐laser‐ablation were developed and analyzed within the framework of SFB 639 as presented in Krahl et al and Fürst et al The process technologies investigated were proven to be suitable for the economical production of even large‐scale integrated components such as the body structures consisting of different load‐optimized preforms presented in this essay.…”
