Water environment protection was one of the most important priorities in Taihu Basin, resulting in the importance of water environment evaluation. It was used to evaluate water quality of Taihu Basin by three methods of single factor index, comprehensive identification index and improved comprehensive identification index, including dissolved oxygen (DO), permanganate index (CODMn) and ammonia nitrogen (NH3-N), which distributed in six typical water quality monitoring sections. Results show that the main pollutant is NH3-N in Taihu Basin, especially Qingpu and Jiaxing, which indicate the main managements are to reduce the eutrophication and blue algae blooming. Comparison of these evaluations, the results of improved comprehensive identification index are reliable to the true condition of water environment.

As an external prestressed concrete box girder continuous rigid-frame bridge with the longest span in China, the Xiantan Bridge was reported in this paper for its special characteristics. The key points of the end cross beam for anchorage zone and deviation block for the deviator were introduced in detail for its design. The finite element models for them with 3D FEM were created to get the stress state to ensure the safety. Taking the stress distribution results into account, the optimization design for the thickness for these key locations was reported too. The results can provide reference for the similar projects.

Based on the improved weighted-least-square model and fuzzy similarity ratio method, a methodology is proposed to detect pipe bursts in real-time. When SCADA data is obtained DFP algorithm is used to get the real network state. Then the real values of burst characteristics are computed. And the hypothetical values assuming each pipe as the accident pipe are calculated for comparison. The fuzzy similarity ratio method is used to judge whether there is a pipe burst. If there is, the hypothetical value that is most similar to the real value is the accidental state and the corresponding assumed break is the burst location. According to the methodology a software system is developed with Delphi 7 for verification. The running results of a designed network show that the methodology is reliable and its detection accuracy is over 45%.
