Experimental evaluations of a five-element multi-resonant DC-DC converter with an improved PFM control range

Abstract: An LLC multi-resonant DC-DC converter with antiresonant tank is presented in this paper. The five-element multiresonant (LLC-LC) dc-dc converter can realize the wide range regulations of output voltage and power by pulse frequency modulation (PFM) under soft switching conditions. The resonant dc-dc converter proposed herein is suitable for renewable and sustainable energy applications such as battery chargers interfaced with a photovoltaic power generation system. In this paper, the design guideline of circuit… Show more

“…The relevant papers [22]- [24] have verified the buck and boost voltage regulations of the proposed converter. In addition, the dual pulse modulation scheme suitable for the LLC-LC dc-dc converter has been investigated in [25], whereby it has been verified that power conversion efficiency can improve by adopting pulse-density-modulation (PDM) for the light load conditions.…”

“…A review of multielement resonant converters is in [90], and a comparison of different topologies of multielement RPCs is presented in [91]. The classification and selection methodology for multielement resonant converters is outlined in [92], while the design, simulation, and experimental evaluation of multielement RPCs are presented in [93] and [94]. The more elements there are, the more topologies may be realized.…”
