Determining the type of radioactive nuclei is the second activity after the inventory of radioactive waste in Kosovo, their location and the number of radioactive sources. Before starting any type of radioactive waste action, it is necessary to determine the content of their activity, the type of radioisotope, physical and chemical form and the risks associated with their management. The realization of this is achieved as a combination of quality assurance processes, the inventory of the radioisotope and its activity that is present in the waste, the composition of the waste material and direct measurements. This serious activity was carried out entirely in the field and was undertaken due to the lack of source certification or any other indication of their classification and activity. The process of determining the type of radioactive nuclei helps to realize a more effective characterization of them as well as to determine the path of waste management. The probability that a gamma radiation detector interacts with it to produce a pulse represents the effectiveness of the detector.

The radiation that has existed throughout human history is always present in our environment, in our bodies and in space. Radiation has been used in almost every aspect of medicine, science and industry since it was discovered. Technologies that use radiation make people's lives easier, and people's lives are saved through early detection and treatment of diseases, especially in medical applications. With rapidly evolving technology, medical staff are exposed to more radiation doses due to increased radiation use in medicine. Since life without radiation is unlikely, there needs to be a sufficient level of information about radiation to protect against the harmful effects of radiation. In universities, which constitute an important part of education and training, the better the radiation knowledge of the students in the field of health, which will shape the future, the better the transfer of radiation knowledge level to future generations and at the same time to the people they serve since these students will be the health personnel of the future. Health personnel should be able to protect themselves from the harmful effects of radiation, take the necessary precautions during diagnosis and treatment, and increase their level of knowledge in this regard. In this study, it was aimed to evaluate the level of awareness of health services vocational school students, who will be health personnel in the future, towards the concept of radiation and radiation protection.

Bu çalışma, Monte Carlo yöntemi kullanılarak ZnO katkılı bazı cam örneklerinin toplam kütle zayıflama katsayılarını hesaplamayı amaçlamaktadır. Simülasyonlar basitçe, silindir şeklinde soğurucu bir malzeme, NaI(Tl) detektörü,kolimatör ve soğurucuya doğru paralel bir ışın olarak yönlendirilen mono-enerjik fotonlar yayan nokta kaynaktan oluşmaktadır. Problem geometrisindeki tüm bileşenler, numune dışındaki malzemelerde herhangi bir etkileşimi önlemek için vakum bir küre ile çevrelenmiştir. Simülasyon düzeneği bu şekliyle, saçılan fotonların dedektördeki toplam akıya katkı yapması engellemiştir. Simülasyonlar, 10 keV-20 MeV enerji aralığında 39 farklı foton enerjisinde GAMOS 6.2 paketi kullanılarak gerçekleştirilmiştir. Bu çalışma .çinko oksitin cam örneklere ilave edilmesinin cam örneklerinin radyasyon soğurma özelliklerini arttırdığını göstermiştir. Çalışmanın sonuçları XCOM değerleri ile karşılaştırıldığında iyi bir uyum görülmektedir. Monte Carlo tekniğinin, basit bir model geometrisi kullanarak, geniş bir enerji aralığında, kütlesel zayıflama katsayılarının hesaplanması için bir alternatif olarak kullanılabileceğini ortaya koymuştur.
