Experimental and theoretical evaluation of two indol-steroid-cyclobuta-imidazole derivatives as antibacterial drugs

Abstract: There some for treatment of infectios deseasses; however, some drugs can induce several adverse effects. The aim of this study was synthesizing and to determinate the antibacterial activity of two indol-steroid-cyclobuta-imidazole complex (compound 11 and 12) against Staphylococcus aureus, Escherichia colli and Klebsiella pneumoniae in a minimum inhibitory concentration (MIC) model, using gentamicin, ciprofloxacin, cefotaxime as controls. The following stage involved the theoretical evaluation of the interacti… Show more

“…On the other hand, it should be mentioned that these epoxides could be used as chemical tools in either biological models or as intermediaries in the preparation of several drugs, as happens with other epoxide analogues. [37][38][39][40][41] DATA AVAILABILITY STATEMENT The data that supports the findings of this study are available in the supplementary material of this article…”

“…Some epoxide derivatives have been prepared using some methods; however, these protocols require special reagents such as Co(III) [34] and Cr(III) [35] and others. In this investigation, a previously method reported (Darzens reaction) [36,37] was used to preparation of two epoxide derivatives (14 or 15; Figure 8). In this way, either compound 14 was synthesized from 12 and a hydroxynaphthaldehyde in basic medium.…”
