Experimental and Estimation Studies of Resilient Modulus of Marine Coral Sand under Cyclic Loading

Abstract: Coral sand is an important filler resource that can solve the shortage of terrestrial fillers in coastal areas. Recently, the foundations of many infrastructures in the South China Sea have been built with coral sand as fillers, which have been subjected to wave and traffic cyclic loads. Resilient modulus (Mr) is an important design parameter in marine engineering, but there are few studies on the resilient modulus response of coral sand under cyclic loading. A series of drained cyclic triaxial tests were carr… Show more

“…In 1988, the first international calcareous soil mechanics conference held in Perth, Australia, triggered a great upsurge in research on the mechanical properties of coral sand. At present, researchers have mainly studied coral fine-grained soil [2,20,[22][23][24], medium-coarse sand [25][26][27][28][29][30][31], and coarse-grained soil [32,33]. There are relatively few studies on the mechanical properties of coral gravelly sand [34,35], and these research results are mostly limited to the effects of density, gradation, stress state, etc.…”

“…Over the years, the development of marine energy has attracted more and more attention from coastal countries, and the construction of concrete structures in the coastal and offshore environment is increasing, which puts higher requirements on the durability and corrosion resistance of coastal concrete. Under the erosion of sea water, sulfate is the most destructive corrosive substance among various corrosive media [1][2][3][4].…”
