Experimental and Correlated Liquid–Liquid Equilibrium Data for (Water + Propionic Acid + Ethylbenzene or Benzyl Benzoate) Ternary Systems

Abstract: This paper reports the ternary liquid−liquid equilibrium (LLE) data for water−propionic acid−ethylbenzene at T = (308.2 and 318.2) K and water− propionic acid−benzyl benzoate systems at T = (298.2, 308.2, and 318.2) K and p = 0.1 MPa for the first time. Solubility data and mutual solubilities between ethylbenzene or benzyl benzoate and water were measured using the traditional cloud point method. Tie lines were experimentally obtained using acidimetric titration, the Karl Fisher titration and the refractive in… Show more

“…In our earlier LLE studies, the equilibrium data for the aqueous solutions of carboxylic acids including propionic acid (PA) with different aryl solvents belonging to the different chemical classes (i.e., aryl alcohol, aryl ketone, and aryl ester) have been examined and compared. , As an extension of the earlier research, we report the LLE data for the ternary aqueous mixtures of acetic acid and aryl solvents at T = (298.2 and 308.2) K and p = 101 kPa. In this research, three aryl carbonyl compounds were tested as the extraction solvent for acid extraction from water.…”
