Experimental analysis of the delay introduced by Linux OS in the communication PC-Measurement Instrument

Abstract: The PCs co-operating into the Distributed Measurement System (DMS) can work on synchronized modality on the basis of the standard IEEE 1588. Nevertheless, the hardware and software architecture of the path involved in the communication PC-Measurement Instrument (MI) can delay the command. The research given in the paper aims to investigate about the time delay introduced by the software in the communication between the PC and the MI, by referring to the previous established hardware connection PC-MI offering t… Show more

“…In order to assess that a time 1,03E-08 interval multiple of the period of the common 1,02E-08 reference signal is not evaluated, the test is 1,04E-08 performed by setting both the AWG in burst [31], [34] and [35], the These solutions are useful for the synchronization at the sub-microsecond accuracy, once the mean delay is compensated. Indeed, the standard deviation is lower than submicrosecond.…”
