In this paper, the characterization of 3D-printed materials that are considered in the design of multirotor unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) for specialized purposes was carried out. The multirotor UAV system is briefly described, primarily from the aspect of system dynamics, considering that the airframe parts connect the UAV components, including the propulsion configuration, into a functional assembly. Three additive manufacturing (AM) technologies were discussed, and a brief overview was provided of selective laser sintering (SLS), fused deposition modeling (FDM), and continuous fiber fabrication (CFF). Using hardware and related software, 12 series of specimens were produced, which were experimentally tested utilizing a quasi-static uniaxial tensile test. The results of the experimental tests are provided graphically with stress–strain diagrams. In this work, the focus is on CFF technology and the testing of materials that will be used in the production of mechanically loaded airframe parts of multirotor UAVs. The experimentally obtained values of the maximum stresses were compared for different technologies. For the considered specimens manufactured using FDM and SLS technology, the values are up to 40 MPa, while for the considered CFF materials and range of investigated specimens, it is shown that it can be at least four times higher. By increasing the proportion of fibers, these differences increase. To be able to provide a wider comparison of CFF technology and investigated materials with aluminum alloys, the following three-point flexural and Charpy impact tests were selected that fit within this framework for experimental characterization.

Precision medicine aims to optimize pharmacological treatments by considering patients’ genetic, phenotypic, and environmental factors, enabling dosages personalized to the individual. To address challenges associated with oral and injectable administration approaches, implantable drug delivery systems have been developed. These systems overcome issues like patient adherence, bioavailability, and first-pass metabolism. Utilizing new combinations of biodegradable polymers, the proposed solution, a Polymeric Controlled Release System (PCRS), allows minimally invasive placement and controlled drug administration over several weeks. This study’s objective was to show that the PCRS exhibits a linear biphasic controlled release profile, which would indicate potential as an effective treatment vehicle for cervical malignancies. An injection mold technique was developed for batch manufacturing of devices, and in vitro experiments demonstrated that the device’s geometry and surface area could be varied to achieve various drug release profiles. This study’s results motivate additional development of the PCRS to treat cervical cancer, as well as other malignancies, such as lung, testicular, and ovarian cancers.

This study evaluates the mechanical strength of 3D-printed objects of composite material. The composite material considered in this study comprises onyx as the base material with glass fiber and carbon fiber as the internal reinforcements. 3D printing using composite materials generally involves laminating fiber reinforcements in the form of layers within the printed part. To analyze the effect of such reinforcements on the printed parts, specimens were prepared by varying the number of layers and arrangement conditions of the reinforcement. The analysis shows that the tensile strength of the composite increases with the number of reinforcement layers due to the effect of the fibers on the longitudinal direction and a larger bonding area between the internal Onyx and the fibers. Furthermore, higher tensile strength is observed when the reinforcements are laminated at regular intervals than when they are arranged in the center. This study serves as a database for 3D printing fiber-reinforced composites aiding future research in comparing and optimizing their strength according to the 3D printing conditions.
