Experiment Dashboard for Monitoring Computing Activities of the LHC Virtual Organizations

Abstract: The Large Hadron Collider (LHC) is preparing for data taking at the end of 2009. The Worldwide LHC Computing Grid (WLCG) provides data storage and computational resources for the high energy physics community. Operating the heterogeneous WLCG infrastructure, which integrates 140 computing centers in 33 countries all over the world, is a complicated task. Reliable monitoring is one of the crucial components of the WLCG for providing the functionality and performance that is required by the LHC experiments. The … Show more

“…Implementation of killing functionality. The "kill" procedure sanitizes all parameters which are passed during request to prevent embedding of malicious JavaScript, VBScript, ActiveX, HTML, or Flash by an attacker [4]. Performing the appropriate validation provides protection against malicious client-side scripts and any cross-site scripting forgery attacks.…”

“…In such an environment users need to be able to monitor their jobs in real-time and to kill or to resubmit them if something goes wrong. The Experimental Dashboard [4] monitoring framework that was developed for the LHC experiments provides a solution for ATLAS analysis users -the Dashboard Analysis Task Monitor.…”

“…The proposal given in [17] describes the architecture of the Experiment Dashboard system that monitors the Worldwide LHC Computing Grid (WLCG) infrastructure from the perspective of the Large Hadron Collider (LHC) experiments. To capture and share the enterprise knowledge three layered ActiveEdge framework is proposed in [18].…”
