Experiment and Modeling to Evaluate the Effect of Total Solid on Biogas Production from the Anaerobic Co-Digestion of Tofu Liquid Waste and Rice Straw

Abstract: Anaerobic co-digestion of tofu liquid waste and rice straw is an impressive study as the mixture of both wastes produced substrates with ideal total solid content. This study aims to analyze the effect of rice straw addition (0,1,3,5 and 7 g) to 250 mL tofu liquid waste on biogas yield. The rice straw addition resulted different variations of total solid which were 1.36, 1.67, 2.28, 2.89 and 3.49% w/w respectively. The increase in total solid content from 1.36 to 2.89% w/w, proportionally increased biogas yiel… Show more

“…When compared between the two, the difference in biogas production per unit-TS is not significant, but SS-AD has various advantages, so this variable is superior. Based on (Brown et al, 2012;Budiyono et al, 2021;Li et al, 2011;Yang et al, 2015), SS-AD has better biogas productivity, thus in one period of anaerobic fermentation, SS-AD can accommodate more solid waste so it can degrade more organic solid waste, and has a by-product in the form of organic fertilizer which is also more many.…”

“…Biogas is a technology that utilizes microorganisms anaerobically and converts organic waste into methane gas and other gaseous elements. Biogas is also renewable energy because the production process uses simple raw materials and does not require a long time (Budiyono et al, 2022(Budiyono et al, , 2021Sumardiono et al, 2022). This research studies the impact the impact of rice husk waste on environmental health if not managed properly.…”

“…So the focus of this research is to study the effectiveness of biogas production with these two raw materials at 27% SSAD condition and C/N ratio 35. Then proceed to study the kinetics of biogas production rate with Gompertz non-linear regression which adjusts the microorganism growth scheme [7], [31]- [34].…”
