Oral acetazolamide in Menière's disease

“…These encouraging reports of the efficacy of acetazolamide in the management of glaucoma not unnaturally led to its introduction as a medical treatment for Meniere's disease. Several papers soon described symptomatic improvement in patients with Meniere's disease (Corvera, 1956;Muftic, 1957;Varga and Ribari, 1958;Varga et al, 1966). These reports gave inadequate details of the patients under study, and paid little attention to the important aspect of disease staging.…”
