Comparable with a review by Brown et al (2021), some fathers in our review felt that they were excluded from care plan discussions, had their inputs dismissed, and their needs were overlooked due to gender stereotypes. This is concerning as fathers of children with NDD have been shown to have unique experiences and needs regarding treatment and support from mothers (Papageorgiou & Kalyva, 2010); and parental experiences with first-line HCPs are positively associated with levels of confidence and trust in future relationships between parents and service providers (Boshoff et al, 2019).…”
