“…These extension activities in general, through examining the feasibility of devices analyzed from the aspects of structure, technology, economics are very useful for water rescue, which makes it easier for users to save themselves quickly, and to prevent drowning (Wang et al, 2022). In a previous survey conducted by Levin et al, (2023) to improve crew recovery for commercial fishing in the Gulf of Mexico, through several trainings including the utilization of ring life buoys, showed a positive change for the importance of speed and safety of the crew. Extension activities related to life jackets are in line with the opinion of To & Huang, (2022), although the design of permanent devices for life jackets will differ from typical wearable devices due to the unpredictability of the surrounding environment and safety considerations.…”

“…The education and learning experience enabled workers to help to identify problems in the PAR process [ 52 , 53 ]. The previous studies found that the development of an occupational health culture among workers, creating awareness, establishing existing structures and procedures, and training by both needs assessment and evaluation together is crucial for successful training and long-term sustainable improvements [ 54 , 55 , 56 , 57 ]. The PAR process was the tool for key elements of BOHS development that corresponded to key elements of successful health and safety management, including policy, organization, planning, implementation, feedback to enhance BOHS, and auditing [ 37 ].…”

“…Social environmental factors such as primary language, and English uency were also not documented, which could have shed light on language barriers and the scope of miscommunication between the shing vessel workers. Inadequate language pro ciency can also lead to poor understanding of the federal or state shing regulations and weather advisories (31)(32)(33). We identi ed some injury-speci c characteristics such as transportation injury events on the smaller vessels or slip, trip, and fall injuries on the large crew vessels, yet the injury narratives did not provide further detail to explain a more speci c contributing factor.…”
