Experience in using modified wood in bearings of large pump units on the moscow canal

Abstract

A. M. LazarevModified wood was used in bearings of large Soviet-made vertical pump units on the Moscow Canal in 1986.The pumps have the following main characteristics and design features:design head H = 8.5 m, design discharge Q = 25 m3/sec, speed n = 214 rpm, accelerated speed n a = 413 rpm, power N = 3000 kW, efficiency q = 86.2%, direction of rotation, right.The pump shaft has two parts: the shaft of the impeller and an intermediate shaft. The working journals of the shafts with a stainless steel 10KhI8NgT lining have a diameter of 420 mm. The pump shafts rotate in two guide bearings.The lower pump bearing is fastened to the upper gate apparatus and consists of a body and two bushings. The upper bearing is located on the cover of the pump and also consists of a body and two bushings. Water is the working medium of the pump and simultaneously the lubricant of the lower bearing. The upper bearing is also lubriCated with water.
