This descriptive cross-sectional study documented the experience of sexual harassment (SH) and coping strategies among 250 consenting students of University College Hospital, Ibadan school of nursing, using a pre-tested questionnaire. Descriptive statistics and Chi-square test were used to analyze the data at 5% level of significance. Mean age was 23.0 ± 4.1 years, 78.8% were females and 91.2% perceived SH to be common in the school. Fifty-eight percent of respondents (20.0% males, 80.0% females) had ever been sexually harassed. Main perpetrators of SH against females were male resident doctors (24.5%) and male patients (11.3%) while female colleagues (44.8%) and female patients (20.7%) were for males. Types of SH experienced were unwanted body contact (79.3%), breast contact (67.6%), enticement (45.5%), attempted rape (39.3%) and unwanted kiss (26.3%). Attending parties and mode of dressing were positively associated with experience of SH. Main coping strategies employed were reporting to school authority, ignoring the perpetrator, confrontation and breaking up the relationship. Sexual harassment is prevalent among the students studied, with females more affected. Coping strategies adopted were adjudged ineffective. Institutional based interventions such as sensitization, capacity building on coping strategy skills, legislation and policy reviews are needed to address these concerns.

Healthcare SMEs are at risk of sexual harassment in the workplace due to several barriers resulting in medical professionals leaving the workforce and reduced productivity. The paper attempts to bridge the gap between the existing findings in general healthcare with medical tourism settings focusing on the medical tourists' behaviour in the destination country and the behaviour of medical practitioners in healthcare SMEs, who may be exposed to sexual harassment at workplace. Thus, this study urge for corrective actions in the medical tourism industry in ensuring the safety of medical tourists and practitioners in the rising demand for medical tourism. Keywords IntroductionAlthough cultural heritage is the central point for tourism (Azmi & Ismail, 2016) medical tourism is a rising phenomenon that has attracted numerous scholars in academic and the professionals in the 21 st Century. It is a business activity that falls under health tourism which is a subset of tourism studies. Accordingly, tourism pertains to the interdisciplinary between the interaction of tourists, business suppliers, governments, communities and environment which falls under the human behavioural studies. As Setyowati, Harani, and Falah (2013) puts it, health and behaviour are interconnected as it integrates various department and functions as well as serves patients from a differing background.On the other hand, health tourism is commonly known as travelling across one's country borders for one's mental and physical wellbeing. Thus, medical tourism relates to the travel of people who are in search of medical treatments as their main intention of the trip.Meanwhile, Nielsen et al. (2017) put forward that there is no single definition, cause and theoretical framework on sexual harassment, hence the definition of such misconduct is worth to look into. According to Malaysia's Code of Practice on the Prevention and Eradication of Sexual Harassment, sexual harassment is defined as unwanted conduct of sexual nature has the effect of verbal, non-verbal, visual, psychological or physical harassment. The Code of Practice also explained that verbal harassment comes in the forms of offensive or suggestive remarks, non-verbal harassments occur through leering or ogling with suggestive overtones. Influence of Awareness of Sexual Harassment on Nursing Students’ Coping Behavior during Clinical Practice

The purpose of this study was to investigate the relationship between the awareness of sexual harassment and the coping behavior of recipients of sexual harassment. This study also assesses the factors that influence the coping behavior of nursing students during clinical practice. Methods: For this descriptive study, data were collected from November 15 to December 15, 2017. Participants included 221 nursing students recruited from nursing colleges located in three different areas. Results: 22% of the participants answered that they had experienced sexual harassment. Regarding the type of attacker, the majority of attacker was patient (83.7%). The sexual harassment awareness level was 4.22± 0.40, the degree of coping for those who experienced sexual harassment was 2.99± 0.38. Among the coping behaviors, mitigation (3.48± 0.39) was the highest. The factors influencing the coping behavior of recipients of sexual harassment were sexual harassment awareness (β= 0.24, p= .016) and satisfaction with preventive education (β= 0.45, p< .001). Conclusion: In order to make a safe clinical practice environment, it is necessary to develop a practical sexual harassment prevention program, as well as a reporting and support system for the nursing students. Such a program will help students clearly recognize the sexual harassment situation and increase their abilities to cope with sexual harassment appropriately.

Abstract: Education program is needed to prevent sexual harassment and enhance the gender sensitivity of nursing students, who are in the high-risk group of sexual harassment during clinical practice. This will in turn contribute to a safe educational environment for clinical practice.
