In order to create quality software with standards and agreeing principles, the Small and Medium Software Enterprises (SME’s) faces many challenges and issues due to variety of reasons. Starting from the requirement analysis phase, the challenges emerge and continue until the project nears its completion, before being released to the customers or stakeholders. Various issues surfaced during the SDLC phases are identified and analyzed in the study. A Conceptual Framework using Exploratory Testing has been developed based on the study and the quantitative analyses were conducted using survey questionnaire. In this research paper the data analysis of the quantitative survey is conducted using Partial Least Square Structural Equation Modeling. The reliability and validity of the data is evaluated and presented in this paper which is essential to develop the conceptual framework. Further analysis of the survey questionnaire will be carried on and it will be reported in future work.

Small software companies have to work hard in order to survive. They usually find it challenging to spend time and effort on improving there operations and processes. Therefore, it is important to address such needs by the introduction of a proposed framework that specifies ways of getting things done while consciously encourage them to enhance their ability to improve. Although there are many software process improvement approaches, none of them address the human factors of small companies in a comprehensive and holistic way. Samay is a proposed framework to integrate human factors in the daily work as a way to deal with that challenge. This study suggests managing human factors but pointing out the software process life cycle. The purpose is to converge toward a continuous improvement by means of alternative mechanisms that impact on people. This framework was developed based upon reviews of relevant standards (such as ISO/IEC 29110, ISO 10018, OMG Essence and ISO/IEC 33014) and previously published studies in this field. Moreover, an expert review and validation findings supported the view that Samay could support practitioners when small software companies want to start improving their ways of work.

Managers of software small companies struggle to manage their software process. Therefore, for them realizing and understanding the impact of human factors on software process is even more challenging. Although human factors have been proved to have impact on software process, unfortunately they have been overlooked altogether. This paper proposes a holistic view of human factors on software process in VSE, focusing on the concerns and perceived shortcomings present. In order to identify and compare the human factors, the author carried out a systematic comparison of human factors. As a result, this study identifies the connection between software process defined in ISO/IEC 29110 and human factors given in ISO 10018 and its pertinence. In light of that, the author outlines first steps towards enhanced implementation of ISO/IEC 29110 standard based on ISO 10018.
