“…Scandals involving Endrom and WorldCom in the United States, the Banca Popolare di Lodi in Italy, or even Volkswagen in Germany, have brought ethical questions about these organizations’ corporate management under the attention of the media, the broader public, and even the academia ( Carson, 2003 ). While second-order corruption is well defined in the literature, there is still room for development . We look at what kind of power is abused to change norms and how this perpetuates misbehavior and corruption (Graaf, 2007;Zyglidopoulos, Hirsch, We reveal that second-order corruption is created by personal relationships that form a network which allows power to be abused. We discuss power in the management literature, social exchange and its relationship with corruption.…”

“…Corruption is widely accepted as a form of unethical behaviour that can have detrimental effects on organisations as well as society at large (Pertiwi, 2018). Corruption as a topic of interest among the management and organisational behaviour scholars is rising due to widespread reports of institutional corruption and scandals (Gorsira, Denkers, & Huisman, 2018; Fernando & Sim, 2011; Williams, 2013; Zyglidopoulos, Hirsch, de Holan, & Phillips, 2017). Despite some attempts made to explore corruption as an unethical behaviour both at individual and organisation levels, there is lack of empirical research into these events.…”
