Substantial evidence within the study and practice of occupational therapy (OT) shows the overall effectiveness and value of OT services with at-risk populations; however, few reproducible descriptions of Level II OT fieldwork programs in emerging practice settings, such as juvenile detention centers, have been published (Merryman & Synovec, 2017). The American Occupational Therapy Association's (AOTA) Vision 2025, which builds on the work of AOTA's Centennial Vision, identifies the psychosocial needs of children and youth and health and wellness consulting as two of five practice areas that are generating new business opportunities for OT professionals (AOTA, 2017).
