“…Based on our review, six attributes of the OC that foster or challenge openness were derived, namely, diversity (social and typo-morphological); accessibility; borders and porosity; participation and appropriation; safety and surveillance; and synchronicity. Since Jacobs (1961) is credited for the OC concept (Rolshoven, 2014;Sennett, 2007), her conditions of urban vitality were considered and previous research that examined vitality through an applied perspective was also consulted to develop our methodological framework (Delclòs-Alió and Miralles-Guasch, 2018;De Nadai et al, 2016;Xia et al, 2020;Ye et al, 2018). Correspondingly, variables associated with these conditions were included to analyze openness.…”
