Five experiments were conducted to estimate the digestible threonine requirements of slow-growing broilers: experiment 1, starter phase (days 10 to 28); experiment 2, grower I phase (days 29 to 49); experiment 3, grower II phase (days 50 to 69); experiment 4, finisher phase (days 70 to 84); and experiment 5, which was specifically conducted to determine the production of intestinal mucin over two periods (days 50 to 69 and 70 to 84). Different birds were used in all experiments. A completely randomized design with five treatments and four replicates was used. Treatments consisted of increasing the values of digestible threonine in the diet through basal feed supplementation with L-threonine (98.5%), which was added instead of cornstarch. The following values of digestible threonine were investigated: 0.622, 0.697, 0.772, 0.847, and 0.922% in experiment 1; 0.586, 0.662, 0.738, 0.814, and 0.890% in experiment 2; 0.570, 0.640, 0.71, 0.780, and 0.850% in experiments 3 and 5; and 0.520, 0.595, 0.670, 0.745, and 0.820% in experiments 4 and 5. The digestible threonine values presented quadratic effects on feed conversion ratio in experiments 1, 2, and 3. Digestible threonine values of 0.628 and 0.609% resulted in higher villus height and greater duodenal crypt depth, respectively. Digestible threonine values of 0.762, 0.767, and 0.733% may be recommended for the starter, grower I, and grower II phases, respectively, based on the best feed conversion ratio. In addition, a digestible threonine level of 0.694% may be recommended for the finisher phase based on the highest production of intestinal mucin.

ABSTRACT. Current experiment established different criteria to evaluate the requirements of digestible isoleucine for 22-and 42-day-old broilers by different regression models (quadratic, exponential and Linear Response Plateau) and, in the case of statistical significance, the comparison of means by Duncan's test at 5% probability. A total of 1,920 Cobb 500 male broilers were used in an entirely randomized experimental design, with 6 treatments (6 digestible isoleucine levels: 0.6118; 0.6655; 0.7192; 0.7729; 0.8265 and 0.8802%) and 8 replications, with 40 broilers each. Data on performance and carcass characteristics were evaluated. Level 0.7192% of digestible isoleucine was considered standard. The digestible isoleucine level recommended for 22-and 42-day-old broilers is 0.7729%, corresponding to a digestible isoleucine:lysine ratio of 72%.Keywords: digestible amino acids, ideal protein, performance, regression analyses.Exigências em isoleucina digestível para frangos de corte de 22 a 42 dias de idade RESUMO. Um experimento foi realizado com o objetivo de estabelecer critérios de avaliação das exigências de isoleucina digestível para frangos de corte de 22 a 42 dias de idade utilizando-se diferentes modelos de regressão (quadrático, exponencial e de retas segmentadas ou Linear Response Plateau) e em caso de significância estatística, as médias foram comparadas pelo teste de Duncan a 5 % de probabilidade. Foram utilizados 1.920 frangos de corte machos com 22 dias de idade, em delineamento inteiramente ao acaso, com seis tratamentos (seis níveis de isoleucina digestível: 0,6118; 0,6655; 0,7192; 0,7729; 0,8265 e 0,8802%) e oito repetições de 40 aves. Utilizou-se como padrão o nível de 0,7192% de isoleucina digestível. O nível de isoleucina digestível recomendado para frangos de corte de 22 a 42 dias de idade é 0,7729%, correspondente à relação isoleucina:lisina digestível de 72%.Palavras-chave: aminoácidos digestíveis, proteína ideal, desempenho, análises de regressão.

RESUMO.Foi conduzido um experimento no Setor de Avicultura do Departamento de Zootecnia da Universidade Federal de Viçosa -UFV, objetivando-se estabelecer a razão de valina digestível com lisina digestível em rações para codorna japonesa na fase de postura. Foram utilizadas 480 codornas com idade inicial de 284 dias. As aves foram distribuídas em delineamento experimental inteiramente casualizados com seis tratamentos, dez repetições e oito aves por unidade experimental. Os tratamentos consistiram de uma ração basal deficiente em valina, com 18,6% de proteína bruta e 2900 kcal de EM/kg, suplementada com cinco níveis de L-valina (0,051; 0,101; 0,151; 0,202 e 0,252%) em substituição ao ácido glutâmico, em equivalente proteico, correspondendo às relações de valina digestível com lisina digestível de 0,75; 0,80; 0,85; 0,90; 0,95; 1,00%, respectivamente, permanecendo as rações isoproteicas e isocalóricas, sendo a lisina digestível fixada em 1,00%. Os parâmetros estudados foram: consumo de ração (g/ave/dia), produção de ovos por ave dia (%), produção de ovos comercializáveis (%), peso do ovo (g), massa de ovos (g/ave/dia), conversão alimentar por massa de ovos (kg de ração/kg de ovos), conversão alimentar por dúzia de ovos (kg de ração/dz de ovos), variação do peso corporal (g), peso dos componentes (g) e percentagem dos componentes dos ovos (gema, albúmen e casca) e gravidade específica (g/cm3). Não foram observadas mudanças significativas nos parâmetros avaliados em função das diferentes relações de valina com lisina digestível estudadas. Concluiu-se que a razão de valina digestível com lisina digestível de 0,75 na ração, proporciona resultados satisfatórios de desempenho e de qualidade de ovos para codornas japonesas em postura.
