-The objective of this study was to estimate the digestible lysine requirement of Japanese quails in the egg-laying phase. A total of 336 female Japanese quails (Coturnix coturnix japonica) of average initial age of 207 days were distributed in a completely randomized experimental design, composed of 6 treatments (lysine levels) with 7 replicates and 8 birds per experimental unit, with duration of 84 days. Experimental diets were formulated from a basal diet, with corn and soybean meal, with 2.800 kcal ME/kg and 203.70 g/kg crude protein, showing levels of 9.50; 10.00; 10.50; 11.00; 11.50; and 12.00 g/kg digestible lysine; diets remained isoprotein and isocaloric. The following variables were studied: feed intake (FI); lysine intake (LI); egg production per bird per day (EPBD); egg production per bird housed (EPBH); production of marketable eggs (PME); egg weight (EW); egg mass (EM); utilization efficiency of lysine for egg mass production (UELEM); feed conversion per mass (FCEM); feed conversion per dozen eggs (FCDZ); bird availability (BA); percentages of yolk (Y), albumen (A) and shell (S); specific egg weight (SW); nitrogen ingested (NI); nitrogen excreted (NE); and nitrogen balance (NB). Significant effect was only observed for LI, EW, EM, UELEM, FCEM, Y, A and SW. The digestible lysine level estimated in diets for laying Japanese quails is 11.20 g digestible lysine/kg diet, corresponding to an average daily intake of 272.23 mg lysine.

ResumoObjetivou-se determinar a exigência de metionina + cistina total para frangas na fase inicial e verificar seu efeito sobre a fase de postura. Na primeira fase experimental, 720 aves (50% Lohmann LSL e 50% Lohmann Brown) com uma semana de idade foram distribuídas em delineamento experimental inteiramente casualizado, em esquema fatorial 5 x 2 (níveis de met + cis e linhagens), com quatro repetições e 18 aves por repetição. Os níveis de met + cis total estudados foram 0,536; 0,616; 0,696; 0,776; e 0,856 %. Ao atingirem 22 semanas de idade, iniciou-se a segunda fase experimental, sendo utilizadas 240 aves (50% Lohmann LSL e 50% Lohmann Brown) provenientes da primeira fase experimental. A ração fornecida às aves nesta fase foi igual para todos os tratamentos. Na fase de produção avaliaram-se os efeitos residuais das dietas fornecidas no período inicial sobre os parâmetros produtivos. As exigências de metionina + cistina recomendadas para aves leves e semipesadas, no período de 1 a 6 semanas de idade, são de 0,778% de met + cis total (correspondendo a 0,700% de met + cis digestível) e 0,739% de met + cis total (correspondendo a 0,665% de met + cis digestível), respectivamente.Palavras-chave: aminoácidos; maturidade sexual; ovos; poedeiras; requerimentos. RESUMO -Objetivou-se determinar os níveis de aminoácidos sulfurosos digestíveis para se estabelecer a relação ideal metionina+cistina:lisina em rações para poedeiras leves no período de 24 a 40 semanas de idade. Utilizaram-se 216 aves Hy-Line W36 em delineamento de blocos casualizados com seis níveis, cada um com seis repetições de seis aves por unidade experimental. Os níveis de aminoácidos sulfurosos digestíveis foram obtidos a partir de uma dieta basal com baixo nível de metionina+cistina digestível (0,65%) e suplementada com 0,00; 0,05; 0,10; 0,15; 0,20 e 0,25% de DL-metionina 99,2%, de forma a apresentar relações metionina + cistina:lisina de 84, 91, 97, 104, 110 e 117%. O período experimental teve duração de 16 semanas e foi subdividido em quatro subperíodos de coleta dos ovos, cada um com 28 dias de duração. Os níveis de metionina+cistina digestível influenciaram a produção de ovos e a eficiência de utilização de lisina por produção total de ovos, atingindo um platô em 0,811 e em 0,772% de metionina+cistina digestível, respectivamente. O nível de metionina+cistina digestível considerado exigência para poedeiras leves no período de 24 a 40 semanas de idade é de 0,772%, que corresponde a consumo de 682 mg/ave/dia de metionina+cistina digestível e a relação metionina+cistina:lisina de 100%. The digestible sulfurous amino acids levels were obtained from a basal diet with low levels of digestible metionin+cistine (0.65%) supplemented with 0.00; 0.05; 0.10; 0.15; 0.20 and 0.25% of DL-methionine (99.2%) to provide a relationship methionine+cystine:lysine of 84, 91, 97, 104, 110 and 117%. The experimental period lasted 16 weeks and it was subdivided in 4 subperiods of collection of the eggs, each one corresponding to 28 days. Levels of digestible methionine+cistine affected egg production and lysine utilization efficiency per total egg production, reaching a plateau in 0.811 and 0.772% of digestible methionine+cistine, respectively.
