Exfoliated Graphite Electrodes for Organic Single-Crystal Field-Effect Transistor Devices

Abstract: In this work, exfoliated graphite was used as an electrode for organic single-crystal field-effect transistor (FET) devices, and the electrode performance was demonstrated. The reduced rigidity of exfoliated graphite allows good physical contact with organic single crystals in various morphologies. Because the work function of graphite matches well the HOMO energy level of most p-type organic molecules or the LUMO level of some n-type molecules, efficient charge injection from graphite electrodes to organic cr… Show more

“…To investigate the electrical properties of the flexible BPEAC + crystals, the conductivity of BPEAC + has been measured by the four-probe method using graphite electrodes as described elsewhere. [31] As the method of using graphite electrode avoids usage of solvents or other chemicals, radicals vulnerable to solvents are safely preserved. The conductivity of as grown linear shaped BPEAC + crystals shows Ohmic shape I-V curve with high conductivity value of 3.27 S cm À1 at room temperature (Figure 5 a).…”
