The technology of coal power plant coupled with waste incineration is considered as a promising technology for fossil fuel conservation and waste disposal. In this paper, a system of coal power plant coupled with waste incineration is simulated by Aspen Plus software, and a conventional coal power plant is also simulated for comparison. Comprehensive evaluation including thermodynamic, economic and environmental impact performances are analysed and compared. Evaluation results indicate that the thermodynamic performance and environmental impact of the system of coal power plant coupled with waste incineration are worse, but the economic performance of the system is obviously better than the coal power plant. When the replacement ratio of waste is 20%, the energy and exergy efficiencies of the system are 38.54% and 37.27%, the internal rate of return and discounted payback period of the system are 21.83% and 9.14 years, and the environmental cost of the system is $3597.73 h-1. Therefore, the technology of coal power plant coupled with waste incineration has technical feasibility and economic advantages, and the environmental impacts need to be considered in the application of the technology.

Large-scale intermittent renewable energy grid-connected power generation requires thermal power units with sufficient flexibility to adjust resources, which can achieve deep peak regulation of 35% THA, and respond to load changes when intermittent renewable energy is connected to the grid in real time. In this paper, the flue gas heating molten salt is extracted directly from the process flow of the thermal power unit for heat storage, and the energy utilization efficiency is theoretically about three times that of the electric heat storage peak regulating system. The simulation results show that the coordinated control of flue gas-molten salt heat exchanger, molten salt-water/steam heat exchanger and boiler main control can reduce the depth peak regulation of thermal power units by 10%. The coordinated control method of thermal power unit of coupled molten salt heat storage system can effectively improve the response speed of AGC and primary frequency modulation of thermal power unit, and the output power response speed is increased by 39.12% after stabilization.

Exergy analysis has been found to be a useful method for improving the conversion efficiency of energy resources, since it helps to identify locations, types and true magnitudes of wastes and losses. It has also been applied for other purposes, such as distinguishing high- from low-quality energy sources or defining the engineering technological limits in designing more energy-efficient systems. To identify locations, types, and actual magnitudes of energy losses; exergy analysis has been found to be a valuable way for enhancing the conversion efficiency of the different energy systems. The aim of this research is to analyze the effect of the operation conditions on the performance of coal-fired power plants. As well, this study focuses on the effect of different feedwater heaters' numbers that lead to the highest exergy destruction of the coal-fired power plants. For different values of the superheated steam temperature and the pressure, a parametric study was conducted to determine the efficiency of the coal-fired power plant. The results show that, when the pressures and temperature of the superheated steam increases the evaporator temperature will increases too. Increasing the temperature of evaporator rises the average maximum temperature of the cycle, which improves the thermal efficiency of the cycle as well as the powerplant efficiency. The results show that, at higher boiler pressures and temperatures, the temperature difference between the water/steam and hot gases of the boiler is reduced which means the irreversibility associated with the heat transfer process decreases. Therefore, by increasing the pressure and temperature of the superheater, the exergy efficiency of the thermal cycle is improved. It was observed that operating the coal-fired power plant at high superheated pressure and temperatures produce lead to reduce the exergy losses.
