Exclusive electrodisintegration ofHe3at highQ2. I. Generalized eikonal approximation

Abstract: We develop a theoretical framework for calculation of high Q 2 exclusive electro-disintegration of A = 3 systems. The main result of this work is the calculation of the final state interaction of the struck energetic nucleon with recoil nucleons within the generalized eikonal approximation (GEA) which allows us to account for the finite and relatively large momenta of the bound nucleons in the nucleus. The important advantage of this approach is the possibility to study in a self-consistent way the short range… Show more

“…These calculations were performed using the generalized eikonal approximation (GEA) [22], and included the spin-dependent finalstate interactions and meson-exchange currents, and used the 3 He wave function that results from the AV18 potential [23]. The yield of the quasi-elastic events and the asymmetries were calculated as a function of W and assumed values for g n with the values for the other nucleon FFs from [24].…”

“…This function can be reliably calculated within plane-wave impulse approximation (PWIA), especially for light nuclei. 4,5 Any modification of the PWIA decay function in the experimental measurement will be an indication for the final-state interaction between DIS products and residual nuclear system.…”

“…3, we are interested in the relatively large magnitudes of the tagged nucleon momenta (up to 400 MeV/c) aimed at the exploration of the FSI dynamics of DIS, in Sec. 4 we consider the opposite, small momentum limit of the tagged protons to extract the DIS structure function of the "free" neutron. We introduce the pole extrapolation procedure and apply it to the recently measured data for the tagged DIS reaction off the deuteron.…”

“…In recent years, electron scattering experiments have been possible with kinematics that involve large energies and momentum transfered, as for example in studies of nuclear transparency. In this regime, the final state interactions (FSI) for the knock out of a nucleon are usually treated employing Glauber inspired calculations [1,2,3,4]. Such techniques, together with the experience gained in related nuclear structure studies, provide a useful starting point to pursue accurate predictions of neutrino-nucleus interactions at high energy.…”
