Excitonic absorption and defect-related emission in three-dimensional MoS2 pyramids

Abstract: In this work, we study the excitonic absorption and cathodoluminescence emission of MoS2 micro-pyramids grown by chemical vapor deposition on SiO2 substrates, obtained at room and cryogenic temperatures.

“…In addition, the ratio between the MoS2 mode intensity and the silicon peak confirms the bulk nature of the pyramid. It is worth noting that the E2g/A1g intensity ratio can give additional insights" (Negri et al, 2022). From the Figures 7 and 8, we can see the very good agreement between the data and the fitted curves.…”

“…For instance, pyramidal MoS 2 structures [76] show sophisticated helical electrical current flow [77] and, additionally, high energy harvesting capabilities through an electrocatalytic hydrogen evolution reaction [78]. Among the TMDC clusters with similar 3D geometry, altered optical, magnetic, catalytic, and electrical properties were also found for MoS 2 (strong excitonic absorption and cathodoluminescence [79]), WS 2 (complex Raman spectrum [80], non-linear optical response, and catalytic activity [81,82]), WSe 2 [83,84] (plasmonic effects), and in anti-pyramidal MoS 2 /WS 2 vertical heterostructures [58] prepared via a VLS growth process.…”
