Excess Molar Volumes and Viscosities for Binary Mixtures of 2-Propoxyethanol and of 2-Isopropoxyethanol with 2-Pyrrolidinone, N-Methyl-2-pyrrolidinone, N,N-Dimethylformamide, and N,N-Dimethylacetamide at 298.15 K

Abstract: Excess molar volumes and viscosities η have been measured as a function of composition for binary mixtures of 2-propoxyethanol and of 2-isopropoxyethanol with 2-pyrrolidinone, N-methyl-2-pyrrolidinone, N,N-dimethylformamide, and N,N-dimethylacetamide at 298.15 K. In all mixtures, the excess molar volumes are negative over the whole mole fraction range. From the experimental data, deviations in the viscosity Δ ln η had been calculated. The excess volumes and viscosity deviations have been correlated using the… Show more

“…The excess volumes of DMF in mixtures with water [4,6], substituted benzenes [7], aniline and benzonitrile [8], benzyl alcohol and acetophenone [9], ethane-1,2-diol [10], 1-alkanols [11], ethanol [12], propylene carbonate [13], 2-propoxyethanol, and 2-iso-propoxyethanol [14], or ketones [15] have been already reported in the literature. However, no effort appears to have been made to collect the densities and the excess volumes for the mixtures of N,Ndimethylformamide with diethers and there is no evidence for specific interactions between DMF with diethers.…”

“…Recently some researchers have reported the ultrasonic, volumetric, and viscometric studies of esters with alcohols [6][7][8]. N,N-dimethylacetamide as one component and +2-propoxyethanol, +2-isopropoxyethanol [9] and +aliphatic alcohols [10,11], and +benzene, +toluene, +ethyl benzene [12] as other components.…”
