Excellent nonlinear absorption properties of β-antimonene nanosheets

Abstract: In this study, β-antimonene nanosheets were exfoliated using liquid-phase exfoliation assisted by sonication. The nonlinear absorption properties of β-antimonene nanosheets were systemically investigated. Our results demonstrate that antimonene is a promising candidate as a saturable absorber and an optical limiting material.

“…Layered rhombohedral antimony (Sb) has the particularity to be in the middle of the pnictogens (group 5A) exhibiting semimetallic character. In contrast with orthorhombic black phosphorus (BP), Sb does not possess true van der Waals interactions between individual layers, and is more stable under ambient conditions and still conserves high charge mobility .
