Examining Effective Battery Management Systems for Electric Vehicles-a Review Analysis

Abstract

As the demand for electric vehicles (EVs) continues to grow, there is a need for effective battery management systems (BMS) to ensure the safe and efficient operation of the vehicles. This review analysis examines the current state of BMS technology for EVs, focusing on their efficiency in managing battery life, maximizing range, and minimizing the risk of battery failure. The review begins by providing an overview of the components and functions of a typical BMS, including cell monitoring, thermal management, and state of charge estimation. It then discusses the various strategies that BMS employ to optimize battery performance, such as charging algorithms, energy recovery systems, and battery degradation prediction models. The analysis also compares the performance of different BMS technologies and highlights the advantages and disadvantages of each.
