Abstract:Aluminum alloy AA8011 is emerging as a promising material for modern engineering applications in which improved tensile strength, hardness, corrosion-resistance, and wear-resistance of materials are required. Typically, AA8011 alloys are utilized in air-conditioning ducts and heat exchanger fins in ships, leisure boats, luxury vessels, workboats, fishing vessels, and patrol boats. However, the conventional welding of AA8011 is a challenging procedure. In this context, this paper focuses on the development of a… Show more
“…This alloy is primarily used to fabricate heat exchanger fins for a variety of cooling systems found in air conditioners, vehicles, ships, aeroplanes, and other types of cooling equipment [35]. AA8011 is emerging as a promising material for modern engineering applications requiring improved hardness, tensile strength, wear, and corrosion resistance [36]. The samples were moulded and machined in accordance with the requirements for the universal testing machine, Brinell hardness tester(SE-RAB-1) and Charpy tester.…”
This research focuses on the micro-structure and mechanical character- ization of aluminium alloy 8011 that contains aloe vera ash (AVA) and boron car- bide particles (B4C). Reinforcement particles were varied ranged from 0 to 6% and manufactured by stir casting technique. Scanning electron microscope imaging with energy-dispersive spectroscope was performed on the fabricated composites to confirm the presence of reinforcements, and the images revealed a uniform distribution of re- inforcements in the matrix. Hardness, density, impact strength, and tensile strength tests were performed on the developed composites to investigate the mechanical be- haviour of composites. According to the findings, increasing the weight percentages of reinforcement increased hardness and tensile strength while the density and impact strength decreases. The results show that the mechanical behaviour of the reinforced composites are significantly better than those of the unreinforced alloy. The present paper also investigates the application of multiple criteria decision-making (MCDM) methodological approaches to select the best option. The weighted product model (WPM), weighted sum model (WSM) & Preference Ranking Organization Method for Enrichment Evaluations (PROMETHEE-II) methods provide a ranking of the available alternatives; thereby, decision making in critical thinking becomes easier. In addition, the collected data is analysed on Minitab using a regression analysis statistical test.

scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
