Exact results of a mixed spin-1/2 and spin-S Ising model on a bathroom tile (4–8) lattice: Effect of uniaxial single-ion anisotropy

Abstract: Effect of uniaxial single-ion anisotropy upon magnetic properties of a mixed spin-1/2 and spin-S (S ≥ 1) Ising model on a bathroom tile (4-8) lattice is examined within the framework of an exact star-triangle mapping transformation. The particular attention is focused on the phase diagrams established for several values of the quantum spin number S. It is shown that the mixed-spin bathroom tile lattice exhibits very similar phase boundaries as the mixed-spin honeycomb lattice whose critical points are merely s… Show more

“…The L-type and Ptype curves are very analogous, displaying a temperatureinduced maximum as the temperature is raised from zero. However, for the L-type curve [62], the resultant magnetization starts from zero [63]. These morphologies depend strongly on the values of the interaction parameters of the model.…”

“…These mapping transformations were subsequently further generalized in order to account also for single-ion anisotropy terms. Actually, the procedure based on generalized mapping transformations was recently employed to obtain exact results for mixedspin Ising models with a uniaxial single-ion anisotropy on a honeycomb lattice [4][5][6][7], a bathroom-tile (4-8) lattice [8], as well as several decorated planar lattices [9][10][11][12][13][14]. On the other hand, the mixed-spin Ising models that also account for biaxial single-ion anisotropies have thus far been solved exactly only on a honeycomb [15,16] and a diced [17] lattice.…”
