Evolution process and failure mechanism of a large expressway roadside landslide

Abstract: Site investigation, deformation monitoring, laboratory test, and theoretical calculations were used to analyze the evolution details of a large expressway roadside landslide during the start-up sliding process. The monitoring results show that the initial deformation and failure occurred on the protective wall at the slope toe, then gradually developed to the upper part of the slope, and finally led to tensile cracks at the slope trailing edge. Accelerated deformation of the slope support structures, such as t… Show more

“…In reference to the landslide site (Zhang, Zhang, Ding and Zhu 2023) discussed in the article, there exists a notable disparity in soil particle composition between CWTS and SC. Specifically, CWTS contains a higher proportion of fine particles, as indicated in Table 4.…”

“…These landslide disasters caused great loss of life and property. Many research investigations have discovered that failure on slopes is mainly caused by excavations [5][6][7][8][9], rainfall infiltration [10][11][12][13], or by human excavations accompanied by rainfall [14][15][16]. To avoid costly losses from sudden landslides, it is of great significance to conduct a comprehensive stability analysis of slopes under different scenarios.…”
