Abstract:The in situ structural changes in powder metallic mixtures ofexothermic compositions compacted by pressing and sintered by the method of sell-propagating high-temperatui:e synthesis are studied. It is shown that temperature gradients exist between the structural components of the mixture during the whole of the burning wave. The role of oxidation processes in reaction cells is investigated and the causes of the thermal heterogeneity of powder mixtures during burning are explained.
