Evolution of fluctuations during graceful exit in string cosmology

Abstract: We study the evolution of fluctuations in a universe dominated by a scalar field coupled to the Gauss-Bonnet term. During the graceful exit, we found non-negligible enhancements of both curvature perturbation and gravitational wave in the long wavelength limit, and we also found a short wavelength instability for steep background superinflation just after the completion of the graceful exit. This result for one possible graceful exit mechanism would provide a significant implication on the primordial spectrum … Show more

“…Again the final spectra are found to be blue-tilted. We should also mention that the frequency shift s becomes negative for the Hubble rate which is larger than unity around the graceful exit [61]. In this case the small-scale modes show exponential instability as we pointed out in the dilaton-driven case.…”

“…In this paper, we will consider specific class of models where a scalar field couples with the Gauss-Bonnet term non-minimally. There have been a lot of studies on the implications of scalar coupled Gauss-Bonnet term in the context of inflationary scenario [8][9][10] 1 . In the context of dark energy model, Gauss-Bonnet term has also been considered [11].…”

“…The solutions have super inflation phase where the Hubble parameter increases, which indicates the violation of the weak energy condition. Subsequently, cosmological perturbations in this background are investigated [8][9][10][11][12][13][14]. In the process, the so-called gradient instability is found for the first time in [9,10].…”
